RDSO Approved Girders: ETS's Approach to Railway Infrastructure

Railway infrastructure carries some of the most exacting fabrication standards in the country. For a rail overbridge project, ETS designed, fabricated, and delivered 1,200 MT of RDSO-compliant girders. This case study covers the requirements and the quality process behind them.

The Requirements

RDSO (Research Designs and Standards Organisation) specifications govern weld quality, dimensional tolerances, and paint systems for railway steelwork far more tightly than general construction. Every weld procedure, welder qualification, and inspection step must be documented and traceable.

The Quality Process

ETS ran the package through qualified weld procedures with continuous in-process inspection, including non-destructive testing of critical welds. Dimensional control was maintained against the tight RDSO tolerance band, and the specified multi-coat paint system was applied under controlled conditions for long-term corrosion protection.

The Delivery

The 1,200 MT of girders were delivered fully compliant and ready for installation, with the complete quality documentation trail that railway authorities require. The project reinforced ETS's heavy-engineering credentials for infrastructure-grade work.
