State the building dimensions, clear span, eave height, and bay spacing, along with the design loads — wind speed, seismic zone, live and collateral loads, and any crane or equipment loads. This is the single biggest source of quote variation when omitted.
Specify the governing codes (e.g. IS 800, IS 875) and material grade (IS 2062). This ensures every vendor designs to the same basis instead of quoting to different, hidden assumptions.
Define the scope boundary — supply only, or supply and erect. State the required surface treatment and paint system, the cladding and roofing specification, and the expected delivery and erection schedule. Clear scope and finish requirements prevent apples-to-oranges pricing and protect your timeline.
